Frequently Asked Questions

What does WOC for America mean?

Women of Color for America.

Aren’t there lists on the internet already?

There are a few separate lists around the internet, but no central database where you can find all progressive women of color running for office - from a Native American candidate, to a South Asian candidate, to a Black candidate.

How did you determine who is listed on the site?

We listed any woman of color candidate with progressive stances - like supporting a woman’s right to choose, affordable healthcare, affordable education, criminal justice reform, etc. This means all women: LGBTQ, Black, AAPI, Native American, LatinX, women with disabilities, etc.

We want to make sure we're as inclusive as possible because we know that we can only achieve a stronger democracy when more voices are heard.  If we’re missing anyone that should be on this list, please submit it here. Thank you so much!

What elections are happening this year?

Midterm elections are in November and primaries are happening in states across the country, throughout the year. Find a list here or on your state’s site here.

Do you endorse all of the candidates you have on your site?

No. We created this site to serve as a resource. We encourage you to do your own research to find the best candidate for you.

I see some incorrect or missing information on your site. What do I do?

This is a living, evolving database. We thank you in advance for your help! Please submit the missing or correct information here.
